Increase in Residential Burglaries

Recently two BHA members' homes were burglarized.  On North Bowling Green, the homeowner was asleep when the burglars shattered the window on the french doors to access the home.  Fortunately, it appears nothing was taken when they realized the homeowner was home and asleep.  The member on Kearsage was not so lucky.  At 2:55pm two male suspects entered the home through a rear window and stole property before leaving in a car driven by a third accomplice.  Both of these incidents fit the preferred method of burglars these days by accessing the house through a window in the rear and taking everything they can quickly grab, even safes not bolted to the ground.  As a reminder, always put your alarm on, consider installing glass break sensors, notifying your neighbors or the police if you see suspicious vehicles scoping out your neighborhood and NEVER leave a ladder on the side of your house or your side gates open.
