Update on Homeless Outside of VA

BCC Homeless Committee has been working with Supervisor Horvath’s office to provide help to the Individuals who have set up tents outside the VA (they are not vets).  The LAHSA outreach team is working to connect these individuals to services and/or housing options and then ultimately have Sanitation clear and clean the site.  While it takes time to help those who need it, our local representatives are aware of the situation and working hard to avoid a return of the encampment that became Veterans Row.

More Density in Residential Neighborhoods?

In Los Angeles, 72% of land permitting residential uses is restricted to the development of single-family housing (35% of this zoned land is found in Very High Fire Hazard Severity zones and areas vulnerable to Sea Level Rise).  As part of the  Citywide Housing Incentive Program, LA City Planning is assessing whether single family zoned land should be part of this plan to increase housing opportunities.  Please use this link to read more and to take the survey (be sure to scroll to the bottom of the page linked).
