North Bundy Drive at Saltair

Prior to the storm this last week, residents had raised concern over this eucalyptus tree at N. Bundy Drive at Saltair.  Unfortunately, their fears were borne out when the tree fell Tuesday, blocking Bundy Drive at Saltair and trapping hundreds of residents in their home and causing power outages.  Crews came out immediately to start removal and LADWP worked all day to restore the power.  However, it took two days for the City to reopen Bundy.   We would like to thank all of the City agencies and first responders who helped to remove the tree and restore power.  We would also like to thank Officer Matt Kirk for visiting the intersection and talking to the crews to ascertain the progress of the tree removal.  However, during that time, when residents were trapped there was no communication or alert from the City as to when the road would be open.  BHA was just as frustrated as our members in trying to get accurate and up-to-date information.

Preparing for Future Disasters

While we will be reaching out to Councilwoman Park's office to discuss how best to receive accurate and timely information from the City during an emergency (and avoid a repeat of what happened this week), we encourage all of you to reach out to your neighbors and exchange cell numbers (if you haven't already).  And don't forget BHA! We rely on all of our members to keep us informed so please reach out and let us know what is going on and we will do the same.
