Home Insurance Uncertainty for Brentwood Residents
A major story this week has been the announcement by State Farm that they will not renew 30,000 home insurance policies in California. Based on a filing with with the California Department of Insurance, 1,301 policies will not be renewed in Brentwood (or 61.5% of the total policies in Brentwood). The company said those impacted will be notified between July 3 and August 20. While those insured by State Farm wait for news, some members have already heard from other carriers that their insurance policy will not be renewed or that the policy will not be renewed unless they verify they have "proper defensible space" around their home. BHA is monitoring this situation and trying to get the latest information to share with you and what, if any, your options are. We will also be sharing information on how to harden your home and create defensible space to assist with insurance requirements.
