Crime Prevention: BHA Neighborhood Watch Initiative

BHA is currently working with Kenter Canyon residents to create a neighborhood watch network for their area.  This effort is part of our goal to create the "virtual neighborhood watch" Deputy Chief Chow spoke about at our special meeting last month with Mayor Bass.  By connecting these neighborhood watches through a BHA communication channel reserved for emergencies, BHA will be able to share crucial information in real time.  To-date, we have connected Crestwood Hills, Homewood, and Bonhill with plans to add Kenter Canyon, Anita/Carmelina/Medio, Gretna Green, Brentwood Heights and Bundy Canyon.  If you are interested in creating a Neighborhood Watch for your area, please complete this form and we will follow up in October with a special meeting and more details.

In the meantime, West LA Detectives have been busy catching thieves.  Last week six suspects were arrested who had committed crimes in West LA and had been casing houses in Brentwood.  We know this is not the end of burglaries in our area (there were two just last week), but it is a step in the right direction.  Many of you have voiced frustration about keeping criminals behind bars. If you missed the debate between LA District Attorney Candidates Gascon and Hochman, you can see it here.

FireSafe Brentwood: Defensible Space and Native Plants

There are currently, over 6,000 wildfires in California.  Now is the time to harden your home to reduce the risk that your home will be next. FireSafe Brentwood, BHA's recognized FireSafe Council, is working hard to help our members keep their homes and family safe.  Sign up for your own home fire risk assessment.

Learn how to use native plans to reduce wildfire spread and maintain defensible space at the next LA Regional Fire Safe Council-- MySafe:LA meeting
