Red Flag Warning
A red flag warning has been issued for our area by the National Weather Service. In addition, LAFD has issued Red Flag Restrictions starting today and will remain in effect until further notice. Cars parked in Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zones (those who live north of Sunset) must obey Red Flag No Parking signs. It is important that fire apparatus have room to respond quickly to a fast-moving brush fire while simultaneously allowing residents to evacuate, if necessary.
Real Time Alerts
These conditions have contributed to the Franklin Fire currently in the Malibu area. While the LA County Fire Department works to contain it, with the help of LA City Fire Department, we should all remain vigilant. If you have not done so, please download Watch Duty to your phone. This app monitors fires in real time and provides up-to-date accurate information. It also provides level of evacuation orders (1-be on alert, start planning, 2- get ready, prepare to evacuate, and 3-go now). In addition, be sure you are signed up to receive LAFD Alerts and Citywide alerts (check out our website under the Public Safety tab).
