IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON EVACUATION ORDERS

Red Flag warnings are still in effect and the fire is active with 19% containment.  There are still hot zones that the fire department is working to put out. Until they are sure that the hot zones are extinguished, people will not be allowed to return. (Helicopters with infrared detectors are scouring the area.)  If any of you recall the Oakland fire, smoldering embers roared back to life with wind and became one of the worst major fires to tear through hillsides near a populated area.  The risk is real.  So let's support their efforts by abiding by the orders.

POWER RESTORATION UPDATE

LADWP issued the above alert after we advised our members of the following yesterday:

LADWP crews will begin to restore power to these customers once we receive clearance from CAL FIRE to re-energize the circuits and assess the lines for hazards. We also have equipment affected by fire retardant that needs to be cleaned before we can re-energize these power lines.

CALFIRE has the sole authority to restore our power and has yet to do so. Please be patient.  When they do, Councilwoman Park will notify us immediately.

90049 Not Part of LADWP Water Notice

As we confirmed yesterday, LADWP has FINALLY clarified with this map the area affected.  The unsafe water notice is NOT for 90049.  It is only for 90272 and the parts of 90402 that are adjacent to the Palisades.

PATIENCE,  YOUNG GRASSHOPPER

It has been eight days since this crisis started and we all are on edge.  We are concerned for our friends who lost everything, wondering how we can help.  We are anxious to return home after last Friday's evacuation order.  We are impatient to have the power on so we know that our homes' systems are working.  Many of us have begun or joined existing chat groups.  While this is a great way to stay in touch, please be careful not to repeat information you heard from "your friend's friend who has a relative who is close with an [fill in the blank] official who said [fill in the hysterical assertion].  If you cannot verify the information yourself, then email BHA at info@brentwoodhomeowners.org and we will get the answer.  It may take longer than your "need to know in 15 minutes", but we promise we will get back to you one way or another.
