Finally.
For years our members have complained about the burned-out house on Robinwood. Last year, BHA partnered with the closest neighbors near the house and hired a lawyer to pursue a private cause of action. In addition, BHA contacted the City inspector of vacant properties as well as the City attorney asking for action to be taken. In response to our lawyer's requests, the owner hired security to patrol the property and filed plans with the City to start construction. Then last fall, the City Attorney filed charges for a violation on the property, which resulted in a court date in January. The bottom line? A permit was issued January 14, 2025 for construction. The owner now has 180 days from the issuance of the permit to commence work. At a May 16 hearing, the court required the owners to appear July 25 to ensure compliance with the 180 day requirement. If construction has not started with the valid permit the owners now hold, the City will proceed with charges. We are all hoping that construction indeed starts within the required time frame.
