![]() Mount St Mary's University You may have recently received an email or letter regarding MSMU's plan to build a new 38,000 square foot facility to house health and wellness activities. The BHA has carefully reviewed, along with expert consultants, the Draft Environmental Impact Report, and we have had a continuing dialogue with the University, concerned neighbors and Councilman Bonin's office. Last week, we took the collective information and submitted our comments to the City Planning department. Our board has maintained all along the University must agree to traffic and enrollment restrictions like other institutions in our area. You can see the letter and other information by clicking this link.
![]() Brazen Burglary On Friday, June 16, a home on the 200 block of north Bowling Green Way was burglarized. This one was particularly brazen because there were people on the street before the man exited his vehicle and walked up to the house. He donned a ski mask as he approached and was in and out in two minutes. The alarm was triggered, but newer alarms do not have exterior sirens (by law) so he was able to get away long before any response by the security company or police. The break-in is suspicious because the family was on vacation and the burglar did not ring the front door bell, which LAPD has told us is typical to make sure no one's home. Additionally, burglars tend to stay away from populated streets where people are milling about. That being said, cameras and the alarm kept him from having too much time in the house. We can all look out for each other and remember to report suspicious vehicles and activity!
![]() Small Fire A member was walking his dog on Gretna Green Way across from the Brentwood Magnet School when he noticed something under a dumpster. Turned out to be a small fire, likely set by a transient based on the surrounding materials. LAFD Station 19 was alerted and quickly dowsed the small flame. Brentwood Country Club security was also notified and is happy to be more diligent in their perimeter patrols. Thanks to the BHA member who called it in!
