LAPD Says...

Senior Lead Officer Ragsdale was at the BHA monthly meeting and implored the board to alert our members to the following facts:

  • Regular home alarm calls are low priority. Alarms are no long sufficient protection against intruders.
  • Surveillance cameras at your front, rear and side yards that text your phone and give you a visual of activity are a must, so you can call 911, ask for West LAPD and report a crime in progress.
  • Burglaries year to date are down north of San Vicente (BHA territory) and up south of San Vicente.
  • Residents are still leaving valuables in cars attracting car burglars. Please do not leave things visible in the passenger compartment.

Please heed these warnings and alert your neighbors to pick up mail and packages when you leave for vacation!

Homeless On Bringham Ave

We have received dozens of emails from members and seen many postings on social media about the small tent city that has been there about a year. In a recent outreach by the County, it was determined only one out of the twelve questioned was a veteran and he refused assistance. However, the courts have ruled the City may not remove people from the sidewalk unless they are offered housing. The court ruling is based on Constitutional protections and therefore new or different laws are not the answer. A member sent us this documentary on the issue which a few board members viewed with differing reactions.

Seattle Is Dying

The City and County are working on long term solutions which will take time, resources and multiple, sustained efforts to be effective.
