A Hole In The Plan Through years of coordination with the BHA, Councilmember Bonin has committed to avoid unnecessary delays along Sunset, including efforts to keep construction crews off the boulevard during peak traffic hours. For the most part, this has been effective. This week, not a pothole as some reported, but a SINK hole developed east of Barrington and backed up eastbound traffic by reducing Sunset to one lane. Unfortunately, these anomalies do happen. This one couldn't just be covered by a metal plate until the source of the problem was investigated, lest a bigger hole develop and put people in danger.

Scam Alert Several members and the LAPD have made note of a rise in sophisticated scams. Please be suspicious of anyone calling or emailing you about a time sensitive issue requiring your attention. There are two easy ways to avoid being caught in their net.
Here are some examples of scams:
You get a call from a toll-free number from "AT&T" saying someone is at a store trying to change your account information. They say they will send you a text and they need the confirmation number so they can lock your account to counter this fraud. You get what seems to be a valid text from AT&T and give them the code. They now have access to your account. If you get this call, DO NOT give out information. Call your cell carrier using the fraud line 6-1-1 and ask if the call was legit.
Someone searches Paypal customer service, but the website on the search is fake and their financial information is revealed resulting in thousands of dollars in losses.
Fraudulent emails and websites that can result in identity theft are looking more and more like the real ones. Scammers can use technology to call you from seemingly legit phone numbers. The only way to protect yourself is to assume an out of the ordinary call or email is fake, until you can confirm the situation through other means. Stay safe!
