Drive Up Testing
You can sign up now online to schedule a swab test at the VA Parking Lot. You will drive in and follow directions of staff. Several members went and reported it took about 45 minutes. After waiting in a vehicle queue, you will receive from a packet with a swab and a tube with liquid. You will drive forward to another station and perform the self-test as instructed. Then you will hand the packet back. Results in five days via email. This is not the antibody test but will tell you if you have it including if you are asymptomatic.

Homeless Encampments
Many community groups including BHA have complained about the tent city that is ever expanding on Bringham, Wilshire and Federal, adjacent to the West LA VA. The people living on the sidewalk in tents provided by a local legal group are not necessarily veterans and the few that are do not qualify to stay at the VA due to various factors like drug abuse or dishonorable discharge. However, outreach indicates repeatedly no manner of conventional housing provided for free will satisfy the many who desire to solely live on the streets with no rules applied. LAPD has assigned additional officers to police the areas and curtail expansion. If you see new areas popping up, please email us. Ultimately, advocacy groups and the courts have limited the powers of law enforcement. The County has discontinued cleanup until the Stay At Home restriction is lifted.
