The BHA spoke Sunday evening to Captain Tom of LAPD:
- The National Guard has been deployed to Century City Mall, Westwood Village and Palisades Village. We asked about protection on San Vicente and he said LAPD did not have enough resources at this time, but the situation and deployment is fluid.
- He reiterated that the LAPD mobilization means a full deployment of all officers doing 12 hour shifts (sometime 15-16 hours), all vacations cancelled.
- Officers are in the field chasing what Captain Tom described as "professional criminals looking for opportunities," and LAPD is overwhelmed. Because of this deployment, a minimum number of officers are answering 911 calls.
Homeowners should secure their homes and lock cars, as always. Everyone should take the curfew seriously and remember they are safest in their homes.
Tomorrow (Monday) there is a 2:00pm protest planned for the Federal Building in Westwood. Clearly, things could move into Westwood or west on Wilshire to San Vicente. Please avoid these areas and use caution for your commute and errands.
