Some Questions From Our eMailbox
When are the stores on San Vicente going to remove the boards? We spoke to many of the store and property owners and some are already removing the board up. That being said, given what's happening around the country, some are reticent to remove them before they are assured their stores are safe from spontaneous damage.
What is the biggest issue facing Brentwood? While traffic and development were at the forefront for many years, the biggest threat to Brentwood today is pending legislation in Sacramento intent on lifting local zoning laws. The goal of some legislators is to increase housing density in typically residential single-family neighborhoods like Brentwood. The most extreme versions would allow someone to build multiple townhomes where a single house used to be.
Is Proposition 13 being abolished? No. On the ballot this November, there will be a Measure to split commercial and residential protections, so that commercial properties (not homes or apartment buildings) would eventually have their assessments increased to current values.
Sunset at Bundy looks awful and overgrown. Can't something be done? Yes! Members who choose higher annual membership fees help us fund beautification and improvements. In the past, we have planted small trees, painted over graffiti and fixed sidewalks. We will have the parkway along Sunset between Bundy and Saltair and just south of Sunset cleaned up soon.
