Phone Scams

No, they're nothing new and the phone companies are attempting to block spam and robo calls as much as possible, BUT we have received so many emails from members about this, including our LAPD officer Matt Kirk, we thought we'd remind you...

No one from the government will call and threaten you or ask for money or personal information.

Scammers have a way of faking the Caller ID so the incoming call appears to be from a similar prefix as yours. Let your voicemail take care of it, and then block the number if possible.

Never send money to a caller not personally known to you for any reason.

Scammers are getting very sophisticated. With respect to emails, some look very legitimate. Never click the link in the email alerting you to something unusual. Always contact the supposed company or institution using your own path, portal and/or link.

Good luck and stay safe.
