CONGRATULATIONS TO BRENTWOOD HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION MEMBERS KAMALA HARRIS AND DOUGLAS EMHOFF ![]()
![]() DWP Work on Kenter Many members have written us with their concerns about the work by LADWP on Kenter, especially regarding access to homes during an emergency and traffic congestion.
BHA has received assurances from DWP that they will work with their traffic control crews to make adjustments for more efficient and effective traffic control and they have promised to institute changes immediately including better egress from Tigertail and Homewood. In addition the high impact work on Kenter should be completed within two weeks.
Additionally, in the event of an emergency, the roads will be drivable. The crews have work procedures in place that give emergency response vehicles such as Fire Department engines priority to get through the worksites safely. Once the emergency response vehicles are safely through, then traffic out of the area will be directed accordingly. If the crew is notified that an evacuation of the area needs to occur, they will make the work areas safe and move all equipment out of the way to allow for the maximum amount of area possible for vehicles to proceed past. The crews will then evacuate the area as well. They will be working intermittently in the canyon area so they won’t be there every day for the entire project duration.
DWP is working directly with the LA Fire Department Battalions that serve this area and have a communication protocol in place for this very purpose. We’re working with LAFD on a regular basis and staying in contact for emergency response preparedness for this project.
We would like to thank Durrah Wagner, Field Deputy to Councilman Mike Bonin, for her help in contacting DWP to answer our members' questions.
