Rise in Crimes Involving Vehicles
As 2020 comes to a close, Brentwood continues to see very low violent crime. However, property crime is increasing with burglary or theft from vehicles up with 162 reported incidents. We can prevent these crimes if you follow these tips from LAPD:
- don't leave items visible in your passenger compartment
- keep your car key or fob with you, not in or "hidden" in your car
- don't leave your car key or fob on a table near the front door
- don't leave your car running while you pop into a store for a moment
Keep Pets Safe
For years Animal Services has recommended that homeowners not use rat poison in outdoor rat traps. Pets and wildlife that eat poison or rats poisoned by it are then at risk of succumbing to its effects as well. Highly potent rat poison is now illegal.
