Emails and texts were flying in Brentwood over the weekend about the reports to not one but two home invasions on consecutive nights, based on Citizen and NextDoor reports. LAPD has no record of any Carmelina and Sunset incident. As for the Rockingham and Sunset burglary, the suspects were known to the residents, who were renting the house short-term. Our experience from following these stories for over a decade indicates home invasions are very rare and are usually an "inside" job of some sort, not random. That being said, there are exceptions and you should always be cautious and follow the guidelines we frequently post.
