HOMELESS INTERVENTION MOTION
On March 31, Councilman Bonin submitted a motion for additional housing and shelters for the homeless in his district. Specifically, he asked for the City Administrative Office to identify funding for potential sites and programs throughout the Westside that include the county owned parking lot at Will Rogers State Beach in Pacific Palisades (as well as other lots and locations in Mar Vista, Marina Del Rey, Playa del Rey, Venice, Del Rey, Westchester, and West LA).
The community response to creating a temporary site for tiny homes or safe camping at Will Rogers State Beach has been overwhelmingly critical. No matter where you stand on the issue, we encourage you to read the full motion and leave your comments for the City Council record here.
WHAT MORE CAN YOU DO?
Based on the recent survey, we know the number one issue for our members is homelessness and the encampments on the sidewalk outside of the VA as well as other areas in Brentwood. Now is the time to communicate with our elected officials and let them know where you stand on past, current and future solutions. Our Brentwood Community Council has been working diligently on this issue and has urged residents to take the following steps:
BCC RECOMMENDATIONS
1. Project Roomkey Housing Program: Continue to request that Supervisor Kuehl immediately implement a Project RoomKey housing program for the San Vicente encampment. She has REFUSED FOUR TIMES. Email Kuehl, Bonin and County Legal Counsel.

2. Ask the VA to continue the CTRS ("Safe Camping") Program indefinitely and allow the use of small cabins and tents for this program inside the VA.

Demand a Federal FEMA Response for High Volume Drug Rehab and Mental Health Homeless Transition Facilities located in Low Density Areas for treatment, housing and recuperation before re-entry into the Community - Email FEMA, Congressman Lieu, Supervisor Kuehl, Councilmember Bonin, Dept of Mental Health.
