The War On Single-Family Neighborhoods
The CA State Senate passed SB 9, which eliminates single-family zoning and local control of land use, by a vote of 28 to 12. Senator Ben Allen did not vote. The bill now moves to the Assembly where we hope the bill can be stopped or include major amendments. SB 10, an additional bill making its way through the Senate and would allow 10-unit apartment buildings on single-family zoned lots, will be heard the week of June 1. We will jump into action once the bills start working through the Assembly committee. This may be one of the most important challenging issues we've ever faced!
