If you could save your neighborhood with 15 minutes of effort, would you?
Dear BHA Member:
There has never been a bigger threat to our community and your street than the one weaving its way through the State legislature right now. Under the ruse of creating more housing, aggressive legislatures backed by major housing developers are pushing laws that would allow multiple dwellings next to your home. We are not being alarmist here - this is in the works now. To prove our "ruse" point, according to the 2018 census, there are 1.2 million homes in California and 46,000 apartments that are uninhabited.
If you have never participated in any of our campaigns or efforts, now is the time. Please write or call one or more of the representatives (using the information and links below) and simply say local zoning and single-family neighborhoods are part of the fabric of California and important to you as a taxpayer and voter. Subject line: I oppose SB 9 & SB 10. Our experience informs us a call is heard much louder than an email so if you can please call.
Deadline: Monday, June 21
Committee Meeting: Tuesday June 22 * 1:30 PM
Call or Write the Assembly Housing Committee members here: David Chiu (Chair) (916) 319-2017 Kelly Seyarto (Vice Chair) (916) 319-2067 Jesse Gabriel (916) 319-2045 Ash Kalra (916) 319-2027 Kevin Kiley (916) 319-2006 Brian Maienschein (916) 319-2077 Sharon Quirk-Silva (916) 319-2065 Buffy Wicks (916) 319-2015
You can call in to the hearing as well on Tuesday at 1:30 PM by using the link here provided by Livable California.
Talking Points On SB 9 and SB 10
Homeowners across the State are all in on this. We need to do our part. Please take the time, now or never.

![]() Fireworks and Fires As the Fourth of July holiday fast approaches, MySafeLA has released their annual Fireworks Survey. The 15 minute survey is anonymous and will help formulate policy as we work to reduce the threat of illegal fireworks and the fires they cause. An article in the NY Times California section explored the issue.
