SB 9 and SB 10 Coming to Our Neighborhood?

Both housing bills that eliminate local zoning controls and single family neighborhoods passed out of committee this week. One note of good news was the clarification about the exemption of VHFSZ from SB 9. It allows local governments to exempt these zones from the requirements of SB9. Mayor Garcetti has already registered his opposition to SB 9. Now we need to make sure Councilmember Bonin and the entire City Council exempt the high fire zones if SB 9 passes. SB 10 will go to the Assembly for a full vote and SB 9 was re-referred to the Appropriations Committee. We will continue to fight with your help and let you know next steps.

MSMU Development Concerns

The Final Environmental Impact Report (FEIR) for the construction of a Wellness Pavilion on the campus of Mount Saint Mary’s University (MSMU) has been issued by the City.  The Project has changed since the Draft EIR.  We need to hear from you and get your input on the revised project before we submit our comments on July 14. Please go to www.bhamsmu.com to take a survey and to view the FEIR and other documents.
