Weekend Burglary Update

And Then This Happened
Just as we were about to send out good news from LAPD about crime being down, two break-ins happened in our area on Friday evening.
At about 3:40p, two men in blue hoodies, masks and gloves jumped the fence of a home on the 100 block of Homewood and entered from the rear. The alarm sounded and the intruders fled when confronted by the homeowner. They were driving a 2020 White Toyota Corolla pictured here.
Less than an hour later, the same perps attempted to gain entry to a home on the 500 block of Avondale. The car was identified and a dragnet was set up via a mobile command post with air and ground support. The vehicle was spotted on San Vicente and police gave chase. The car crashed, overturned, and one of the burglars was apprehended.
Alarms, cameras, communication and rapid police response were all important in catching the criminals. Our vigilance has paid off and we need to continue staying informed and alert. If you have questions or comments, please don't hesitate to reach out by replying to this email.
PS! - If you are driving a car with no license plate, you are hindering our efforts and it is illegal. All cars must have temporary or permanent plates. Please install your plates today! It will make it easier to spot the bad guys.
The Kenter Canyon students, faculty and parents gave thanks to our local firehouse this week with an event on school grounds. BHA President Kathleen Flanagan (pictured below) started off the festivities which included a presentation by the kids of some much needed gear purchased from a quick fundraising campaign. Your dues go toward a meals program that feeds the firefighters a few times a week. We will have information about future perpetual support soon.
