Emergency Readiness Speaker

Event Description
As we head into the fire season, BHA will host a special presentation by Carol Parks of the L.A. Emergency Management Department. She is the Pioneer of Ready Your Los Angeles Neighborhood (RYLAN), designed to help you, your family and your neighborhood prepare for disaster. She will take 20-30 minutes to discuss emergency readiness, evacuation and response, and then take questions from our members.

Join us at 7:00 p.m., Monday, Oct. 7 at St. Martin of Tours Parish Center, located behind the church at the corner of Saltair and Sunset Blvd.

Carol Parks is the Emergency Management Coordinator II Community Preparedness and Engagement Division Chief for the City of Los Angeles Emergency Management Department. The Emergency Management Department or EMD plan and prepare all City departments, residents and businesses for emergencies, and lead) citywide efforts in emergency and disaster mitigation, readiness, response and recovery. Carol has over 20 years of experience in Emergency Management both here in Los Angeles and in Atlanta. She is the Pioneer of Ready Your Los Angeles Neighborhood (RYLAN) RYLAN is designed to help you, your family and your neighborhood prepare for disaster. The six pillars of RYLAN are prepare, organize, practice, connect, communicate and Train. Emergency managers from EMD will lead, facility and map your community's disaster plan. Each plan is block to block or floor by floor depending on the street or building complex the plan is designated for. RYLAN will also provide residents with various tips and information to increase you, your family and communities readiness.
